How Ukrainians can obtain a passport in another country: list of documents and requirements

Ukrainians abroad can apply for a new passport at Ukrainian diplomatic missions. This service is available to all citizens aged 14 and over.

However, for men from 18 to 60 years old, special conditions related to military registration are provided, reports TSN.

Requirements for men and "Reserve+"

The most significant changes affect men aged 18 to 60. In addition to the aforementioned requirements, they are now required to present an electronic military registration document via the "Reserve+" mobile app.

It's important to remember that this document must be current. Experts recommend generating the electronic extract 72 hours before your consulate visit to avoid refusals due to outdated information. Special rules also apply to those aged 25-60, due to current legislation on mobilization preparation.

Cost, timeframes and methods of acceleration

Obtaining a passport at the consulate is a paid service. The applicant must pay the established consular fee. The standard wait time for the document to be produced and delivered via diplomatic mail is approximately three months.

For those who need a document urgently, expedited delivery is available at their own expense. This can be done through Ukrposhta, Nova Poshta, DHL, or VFS.Global. To do this, simply submit a request on the website of your chosen service, pay for it, and submit the receipt to the consular officer along with your application.

The State Migration Service reminds that passport services are available not only at consulates but also at State Enterprise "Document" offices. The passport service network currently operates in Poland, Slovakia, Turkey, the Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, Bulgaria, Moldova, Italy, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

As a reminder, new border crossing rules will come into effect at the borders with European Union countries: a system for automatically recording the entry and exit of foreigners will be launched.

A Ukrainian citizen's passport in the form of an ID card and a foreign passport have different legal purposes.

An internal passport (ID card) is used to identify oneself only within the territory of Ukraine, while a foreign passport is a mandatory document for crossing the state border.
