A Ukrainian running for Congress from Hawaii caused a fight on the beach and now faces terrorism charges.

Following a fight on Keawakapu Beach on Maui, Kirill Basin has been charged with making terroristic threats, a felony, according to FOX News.

Democratic Congressional candidate from Hawaii, Kirill Basin, was knocked out during a videotaped, profanity-laced confrontation on the beach just days before his court appearance in a brawl case.

The footage shows Basin approaching a group of vacationers and addressing one of the men: "Put your bag away, brother. Put your bag away."

Then a woman approaches Basin, with music by the Pixies playing nearby. Basin tells those present, "I told him: if he wants to go to the hospital, he should come here."

The tension briefly eases: Basin says, "It's over," and shakes someone's hand. However, the pause only lasts a few seconds.

Afterwards, he turns to another vacationer, shouts an expletive, and resumes the altercation. When one of the men says he's talking to his girlfriend, Basin replies, "I don't care."

The situation quickly escalates. Basin repeatedly asks, "What are you going to do?" Then he challenges one of the men to a fight.

When the woman calls him "child," Basin turns to her and demands she repeat what she said. Then, threatening to "bury" her and "send her to the hospital," he leaves after hurling insults at her.

A few seconds later, he returns to his things. At that moment, a larger man, later identified as Kama Khoman, approaches him from behind. Basin pushes him, and a scuffle ensues.

Basin retreats, trips over two beach chairs, and falls to the sand. He gets up, grabs one of the chairs, and swings it at Homan, who pushes it away and, with a punch, knocks Basin out.

Khoman approaches him and repeatedly says, "Wake up." When Basin comes to, he tells someone he's "going to jail" and leaves. A few moments later, he rushes toward Khoman again, shouting curses.

Homan, who said he had training in mixed martial arts, told local media that he decided to intervene when he saw Basin becoming increasingly aggressive.

"I thought maybe I should intervene," Homan admitted. "The closer I got, the more frantic he became and the more aggressive he became."

According to Homan, Basin was the first to use force.

"He put his hands on me, and as soon as he tried to push me, I hit him left and right," Homan explained. "After that, the bully lost his balance and fell into the chairs."

The criminal complaint alleges that during the conflict, Basin threatened several people, including Khoman. A separate charge alleges that he threatened him with a knife.

Homan said he found a switchblade knife about 13 inches long and turned it over to Maui County police.

On August 4, at the first court hearing, the judge left bail at $1 million and prohibited Basin from contacting Khoman and four other people.

If released from custody, Basin is prohibited from approaching Keawakapu Beach and the parking lot, from possessing firearms and ammunition, and from consuming alcohol and drugs. He is required to undergo random drug testing, a psychiatric evaluation, and, if necessary, treatment.

The preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for August 6 at 13:00 p.m.
