"Truck of Good": products for returnees

Even the winter storm did not stop the implementation in Israel of the new project of the World Forum of the Russian-speaking Jews - free distribution of vegetables, fruits and other food products to repatriates in need.

A car with an inscription on board the “Truck of Good” (“Masait Shel Hesed”) has been on the roads of Israel for the fifth month already. It delivers the products of local farmers in the points for free distribution to poor people from the former USSR.
The idea of ​​this project was born to Alexander Levin, President of the World Forum of Russian-speaking Jewry, during the “Enduring Rock” military operation in the summer of 2014, when the scale of the difficulties that fell upon the inhabitants of the cities of southern Israel, especially Russian-speaking repatriates, became clear.
The project has become truly international: it is being implemented by the World Forum with the participation of the Moscow Jewish community of Rabbi Yitzhak Kogan (synagogue on Bronnaya Street) and the main rabbi of Ukraine Moshe-Reuven Asman (Central Brodsky Synagogue of Kiev).
He drives a truck and handles food delivery to Joel Asman, son of a Kiev rabbi. “We help thousands of people. We deliver vegetables, fruits, dairy products, sweets, cookies, sometimes even clothes and beds, ”says Joel Asman. According to him, “farmers in the south and near Eilat invite us directly to the fields and greenhouses, our volunteers harvest the grown crop, and then we deliver vegetables and fruits for free distribution.”
Some milk producers donate their products, and, for example, the company "Spring" gives drinks and juices.
The distribution of products takes place at the Russian-speaking centers of the Chabad movement - an agreement on this was reached after a meeting in Jerusalem, at which the President of the World Forum of the Russian-speaking Jews, Alexander Levin, gathered more than 50 Russian-speaking rabbis from dozens of Israeli cities.
Free delivery of products takes place in Ashkelon, Ashdod, Sderot, Beersheba, Haifa and Jerusalem. In the 2015 year, it is planned to begin shipping also to Safed.
From September 2014 to January 2015, the “Truck of Good” delivered more than 1000 tons of vegetables, fruits and other products for free distribution to repatriates.
“To help the poor, to make life easier for our pensioners and large families is the primary duty of any charity. Therefore, we will continue this project further, ”said Alexander Levin, President of the World Forum of Russian-speaking Jews.
