Green Card Lottery 2026 Results Released: How to Check if You've Won
Today, May 3, at 12:00 PM ET, the results of the DV-2026 green card lottery were released. Here's how to check your results and what to do if you win.

What is the DV Lottery?
The official name of the DV lottery is the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program. It is also known as the green card lottery. It is an annual program in which people can enter a competition to win an immigrant visa to the United States. The winners are selected randomly by a computer.
There are 55 visas available each year under the DV program. The chances of getting an immigrant visa are very low. Millions of people apply each year.
DV Lottery Results
The DV-2026 results were released at noon on May 3, 2025. To check if you are a winner, go to this link. You will need to enter your lottery participant confirmation number (assigned to you during registration), your last name and year of birth.
You not receive a phone call, letter or email informing you of your win.
Information for winners
If you win the green card lottery, you will need to go through the visa process. Participation in the DV program does not guarantee that you will receive a visa or a green card.
After winning the lottery, you need to take the following steps:
1. Confirm your qualifications.
Make sure you have a high school diploma or at least two years of work experience. Your passport must also be valid.
2. Submit for review Form DS-260.
This is an application for an immigrant visa. After you submit the form online, print out the confirmation page. You will need it for your consular interview.
3. Provide supporting documents.
Your interview will not be scheduled until you provide scanned copies of all required documents.
4. Undergo a medical examination.
You must make an appointment with an authorized doctor in the country where the interview is taking place.

5. Prepare for the interview.
The date, time, and location of your interview will be announced after all documents have been reviewed. If your spouse and children are also applying for a DV visa, they must attend the interview with you.
You will also need to bring the following documents to your interview:
- Your interview appointment letter
- DS-260 Form Submission Confirmation Page
- original documents, copies of which you uploaded earlier
- medical examination results
- valid passport
- 2 recent photos
6. Pay the fees.
You must pay an immigrant visa fee. This service costs $330. This amount is non-refundable, even if you do not receive a visa. You will have to pay this amount during your interview.
7. Come to the interview.
A local U.S. embassy or consulate officer will ask you questions about your application and documents. At the end of the interview, the officer will inform you whether your application has been approved or denied.
8. Get a visa and come to the USA.
Once you have completed these steps, your immigrant visa will be affixed to your passport and you will receive a sealed immigrant document packet.
To enter the United States, you must do the following:
- Travel to the United States before the DV visa expires (6 months from date of issue)
- Present the sealed package unopened at the US border.
- Have the necessary medical documents on hand.
Once you enter the United States, you are considered a lawful permanent resident. This means that you are allowed to work and live permanently in the United States.
If you are already in the United States, you can get a green card through change of statusYou do not have to contact a consulate (embassy) abroad.
