US citizen accused of attempted murder of a member of the Ukrainian government

A US citizen and a Ukrainian citizen ordered an attempt on the life of the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Roman Leshchenko. This was stated at a briefing by the Minister of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky, writes Ukrainian Truth.

Monastyrsky said that a Ukrainian citizen and a US citizen, who is considered the main customer, were looking for a hitman in August 2021 to kill a man in Ukraine. As a result, the Ukrainian woman was taken to a dummy killer and all their communication was recorded.

They ordered the murder of a collector who was claiming debts from an American partner with whom he worked in 2018. This collector took $ 150 thousand from the American, which he did not return, which is why he decided to kill him.

The collector's murder was simulated. Both customers were convinced of the "murder" when they received confirming photos and videos.

Later, the same couple turned to the same killer with a request to kill the person from whom the previously “killed” collector was supposed to demand money.

“This citizen turned out to be Roman Leshchenko, minister of the Ukrainian government. This case was related to his activities in 2018, even before he received any public office,” Monastyrsky assured.

Roman Leshchenko in 2018 worked for an American farmer-entrepreneur, after which, allegedly, a controversial situation arose when doing business. The specific details of the case will be established by the investigation, writes latifundist.

On November 17, the customers met with the "killer", discussed the details and gave him a deposit for the work of $ 20 thousand. After that, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (MVD) decided to detain the customers.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs informed the US Embassy of the detention. On the video recording of the meeting, one can hear the American saying “I’m not asking you to kill him, but if that happens, then I don’t mind.”

“The embassy expressed its readiness to cooperate and search for other details regarding the activities of a US citizen who intended to commit the murder of the minister,” Denis Monastyrsky said.

Now they are suspected of: attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, kidnapping and extortion.

These are especially grave crimes, for which the punishment is “up to life imprisonment”.

Interrogations of suspects are now continuing.
