US Department of State temporarily stopped issuing visas
The Bureau of Consular Services of the US Department of State, on Friday, due to technical problems, temporarily stopped issuing visas and foreign passports in its embassies. This was reported by the press service of the Foreign Ministry.
“This problem does not specifically concern any country, citizenship document or visa category,” the State Department assured.
The cause of the incident was the failure of the equipment on which the consular database is stored. People who filed their applications after June 9 will now most likely experience delays in processing documents. The ministry stressed that this incident applies exclusively to US foreign missions.
The State Department regrets what happened. “We are trying to fix this problem as quickly as possible and believe that the system will soon be fully operational,” the press service said.
