The State Department announced the death of two more Americans in the war in Ukraine

The State Department reported the death of two Americans in eastern Ukraine. Presumably they fought on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Read more about this publication Voice of America.

“Today we can confirm the recent deaths of two US citizens in Donbas,” a State Department spokesman said. “We remain in touch with families and provide them with all possible consular assistance.”

It is not yet clear whether they fought on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or were simply located in the region, which in recent weeks has become the focus of an intense Russian offensive.

The State Department did not provide any information about the identities of the victims or the circumstances of their death, citing respect for their families.

As you know, two more Americans died in this war fighting alongside Ukrainian soldiers against the Russians.

Willie Joseph Cansel Jr., 22, of Kentucky, a former Marine, died in late April.

52-year-old Stephen Zabelsky from Florida was blown up by a mine in mid-May in the village of Dorozhnyanka, Zaporozhye region. A naval veteran and father of five accidentally touched a trip wire during a demining operation. This was told by Zabelski's partner Tristan Nettles, who was with him at the time.

The International Legion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the death of three foreign citizens. Two of them are citizens of Brazil, the third is French. They died on the battlefield fighting for Ukraine. In addition, it is known about other foreigners who died during the war.

Three more Americans - Alexander Druke and Andy Hyun, veterans of the US military, as well as crypto investor Suedi Murekezi, were captured near Kharkov by pro-Russian rebels. Now they are in the self-proclaimed "DPR", they face the death penalty.
