State Department: Kremlin agents track down and detain Americans in Russia and Ukraine
The State Department has warned that "Russian security officials may be able to identify and detain US citizens" in Russia and Ukraine. Read more about this publication Axios.

Americans in Russia are facing harassment by Russian security officials, as well as "detention, arbitrary enforcement of local laws," according to a travel alert from the State Department.
From Ukraine, “reports are constantly coming in about the identification and detention of US citizens by the Russian military in Ukraine. They are evacuated by land through Russian-occupied territory to Russia or Belarus.”

The warning comes days after a US diplomat was finally allowed to visit detained US basketball star Britney Greener after he was repeatedly denied access by Russian authorities.
The two-time Olympic champion has been in custody since February 17, when Russian authorities accused her of carrying e-cigarette cartridges with cannabis oil in her luggage at the airport.

Meanwhile, on the day of her arrest, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken warned in a speech to the UN Security Council that the US believed the Russian military would invade Ukraine within days. A week later, the invasion began.
