Google has expanded its bug detection software for official mobile apps. It seeks to encourage researchers to discover vulnerabilities in specific products by offering money in advance.

Google launched a pilot vulnerability program, which assumes that the company will pay researchers. They only need to look at specific product categories and discover problems.

Existing programs that pay researchers for certain vulnerabilities found in Chrome or the company's online services have been a great success. Google launched the program in 2013.

"The research efforts in these programs, combined with our own internal security work, are making bugs increasingly difficult to detect," said Google security engineer Eduardo Vela Nava.
