General Motors recalls hundreds of thousands of cars due to fires

On Friday, GM announced that after 19 reports of fires, the company withdraws 368 000 medium and heavy-duty diesel trucks equipped with cylinder block heaters, writes NBC News.

The company recalls some Chevrolet Silverado 4500, 5500 and 6500 2019 cars of the year, Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 2017-2019 cars equipped with 6,6-liter Duramax diesel engines and additional cylinder block heater. 324 000 recallable machines are located in the USA.

A spokesman for General Motors said that a cylinder block heater cable or terminals could short out and fail, causing fire.

According to GM representative Dan Flores, there have been no reports of injuries, accidents or deaths related to the reason for the recall of cars.

A company representative said that a solution to this problem is still under development. 25, April, GM car dealers received reports that the company was working with a supplier "to get the necessary parts as quickly as possible."

General Motors said that there is currently no way to fix the problem.

An internal investigation began in December 2018 of the year when a company engineer submitted a report compiled after checking the engine block heater, reinstated after a warranty return.

In late April, the company ceased production of pickups with the combination described above.
