The main symptoms of COVID-19: when to think about a test for a new coronavirus
According to the head of the World Health Organization (WHO), now the situation with coronavirus "can be described as a pandemic." According to WHO, over the past two weeks, the disease was detected in 113 countries, and the number of people infected in the world exceeded 118 thousand people, informs RBC.
The head of WHO, Tedros Adhan Gebreyesus, noted that over the past two weeks the number of infections outside of China has increased 13 times, and the number of countries in which the outbreak was recorded has tripled.
Tedros said that so far in the world there are more than 118 thousand infected, 114 countries where the outbreak was recorded, and more than 4 thousand dead.
At the same time, Gebreyesus cautioned that the use of the word “pandemic” should not cancel the measures taken by countries to prevent the spread of the virus. Although he admitted that if used improperly, it can "cause unreasonable fear and unjustified recognition that the struggle is over."
According to the head of WHO, more than 90% of cases of infection occur in four states, including China and South Korea. In 81 countries, the virus has never been detected, and in 57 countries up to ten cases of infection have been detected. He also thanked Iran, Italy and South Korea for the measures they are taking to stop the spread of the virus and to control the internal epidemic.

The main symptoms of Sovid-19 disease caused by the new coronavirus
Manifestations of the respiratory syndrome when infected with the 2019-ncoV virus can range from a complete absence of symptoms (asymptomatic) to severe pneumonia with respiratory failure, which can lead to death.
In this case, pneumonia may not always develop. In some cases, gastrointestinal symptoms, including diarrhea, may occur. Severe manifestations of the disease may include respiratory arrest, which will require connecting the patient to an artificial respiration apparatus and providing assistance in the intensive care unit. Against the background of a severe course of the disease, it is possible to attach a secondary infection - fungal or bacterial.
Unlike a common cold or bronchitis, coronavirus will have a dry cough, not a wet one.
The second important point - at the beginning of the disease, an elevated temperature may not always be. And even if it rises, it will still be lower than with the flu. For example, 39 degrees Celsius is very rare. An increase in temperature and its values indicate the severity of the course of the disease.
Among those who have already identified coronavirus, there are a lot of mild cases. With them, there is no pneumonia at all or it is very weakly expressed. Then a coronavirus infection can occur like a simple cold, it is impossible to distinguish them.
With a more severe course of the disease, patients may experience shortness of breath, shortness of breath. These will be the main distinguishing features of the coronavirus.
Symptoms of 2019-nCoV infection are very similar to the symptoms of other respiratory viral infections: sore throat or sore throat, cough, runny nose, headache, temperature from 37,8 ° C, weakness, general feeling of malaise.
In more severe cases, when the infection goes down from the upper respiratory tract (as happens with SARS), the symptoms intensify. Appears: temperature from 39 ° C, severe cough, shortness of breath, breathing problems, tightness and chest pain.
If these symptoms occur, seek medical attention immediately. You do not have to be diagnosed with coronavirus. Perhaps this is SARS, to which a bacterial infection or pneumonia has joined. But in any case, these are complications that require mandatory medical supervision.
The decisive role in identifying the disease is played by the data of the epidemiological history, i.e. information about the place, circumstances, conditions where the infection occurred. If you have fever, sneezing, coughing and / or shortness of breath, you should immediately seek medical help if you have been in China for the past 14 days or have been in contact with a patient who has arrived from there.
The virus is especially dangerous for people with a weakened immune system and the elderly, as well as patients with concomitant diseases, for example, diabetes mellitus, chronic lung diseases, etc.
The latest data on the distribution of coronavirus in the world
In Italy, 10 people confirmed the coronavirus; 149 people died from it. In Iran, the number of infected reached 631, killing 8042 people. In South Korea, more than 354 thousand cases of the disease, 7 people died.
The total number of cases of detection of coronavirus in the United States exceeded 1000, and the virus is officially registered in all but 12 states.
