The Prosecutor General of Ukraine announced the suspicion of the ex-head of the National Bank Valeria Gontareva

Investigators of the Prosecutor General’s Office drew attention to the illegal activities of Gontareva and Stetsenko in the framework of a large-scale investigation of the crimes of the “Family”, of the fugitive President Viktor Yanukovych, writes UNIAN.

As part of the large-scale Kurchenko case, investigators from the Prosecutor General’s Office on Thursday, 28 March, declared suspicion to the ex-head of the National Bank, Valeria Gontareva, and co-owner of the Ukrainian investment company ICU (asset manager of the president of Ukraine Poroshenko) Konstantin Stetsenko in complicity in seizing the Agrarian Fund funds for 2 billions of billions .

As stated in the documents available to the agency, investigators of the Prosecutor General’s Office drew attention to the illegal activities of Gontareva and Stetsenko in the framework of a large-scale investigation of the crimes of the “Family”, of the runaway president Viktor Yanukovych. The prosecutor's office reports that in this case the total value of the seized property is more than five billion hryvnias, and the amount of the returned damages is more than 1,5 billion US dollars.

Investigators of the Prosecutor General's Office suspect Gontareva, who before her appointment as head of the country's central bank was a co-owner of the ICU company, and Stetsenko of committing crimes under a number of articles of the Criminal Code "for assisting a criminal organization and complicity in the illegal seizure of other people's property - funds of PJSC "Agrarian Fund" for the total the amount of 2 billion hryvnia.”

As investigators found out, this scheme has been cranked in February 2014 of the year by concluding with commercial “Brokbusinessbank” fake agreements for the purchase and sale of an internal government loan bond with PJSC Agrarian Fund and direct REPO agreements with the National Bank.

After publicizing the information in the media, Prosecutor General Yury Lutsenko also confirmed it on his Facebook page, and also gave details of the announcement of suspicions to high-ranking officials of the country in the framework of the Kurchenko case.

However, later something strange happened in the GPU. So, Lutsenko’s press secretaries suddenly became lawyers for Gontareva and companies from Poroshenko’s entourage. Larisa Sargan, a spokesman for the Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko, and the GPU speaker Andrei Lysenko, distributed the official statement by the GPU that Gontareva, Lozhkina, Stetsenko and Filatov were announced in violation of the law.

Already after the statements of Lutsenko’s press secretaries, UNIAN were photocopies of suspicion, presented by the GPU to people from the inner circle of Petro Poroshenko: Valeria Gontareva, deputy head of the AP Filatov and others. A source in the GPU provided the agency with photos of documents sent by the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine to suspects.
