Gates criticized Europe for excessive generosity towards refugees

Founder of the company Microsoft Bill Gates criticized the leaders of European countries, in particular the leadership of Germany, for being overly generous towards refugees from African countries.

He stated this in an interview with a German newspaper. World on Sunday.

“On the one hand, you want to demonstrate your generosity and accept refugees. But the more generous you are, the wider word of your hospitality spreads, and more and more Africans leave their continent and head to Europe in search of a better life,” the billionaire noted.

In his opinion, Germany will not be able to accept everyone who wants to live in Europe.

Gates believes that the European Union should tighten the laws governing the reception of migrants.

Gates urged the leaders of European countries to spend more money on solving problems in the countries from which people flee - to deal with the causes of migration, and not with the result. Founder Microsoft supported the decision of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to continue spending 0,7% of GDP on helping backward countries and urged other European leaders to follow her example in order to reduce the level of migration.

The acute migration crisis in Europe arose in connection with the hostilities in the Middle East and Africa. More than two million people tried to get to Europe, while about 2 thousand people died trying to get to one of the EU countries, including sailing the Mediterranean Sea.
