Where were the most terrorist attacks in 2022: The State Department published a ranking of countries

Terrorism has been one of the main security problems around the world for several decades. While some countries are torn apart by war, others suffer from terrorist attacks. U.S. Department of State released a report on terrorism in the world, highlighting the 10 countries that are most under attack.

In 2022, the three countries with the most terrorist incidents were the Democratic Republic of Congo, Syria and Nigeria. To summarize, in 2022 the number of terrorism-related incidents among the top 10 countries decreased by 1% compared to 2021, and globally the number of incidents decreased by 12% compared to 2021.

At the same time, the ranking of countries by the number of victims from terrorist attacks in 2022 looks a little different.

The top ten countries with the highest death tolls in 2022 were the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, Burma, Syria, Mali, Burkina Faso, Somalia, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Yemen.

However, the data shows a 10 percent decrease in the number of deaths in 2022 among the top 10 countries compared to the number of deaths from terrorism in these countries in 2021, and a 23 percent decrease in the number of deaths in the world compared to 2021.

Despite the overall decline in incidents, there are nearly 2022 fatalities per incident in 3,0, down from 2,7 in 2021.
