El Chapo's sons fed enemies to tigers and used chili sauce to torture

The drug trade brought money to Los Chapitos, as the sons of the notorious Mexican cartel leader Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán call themselves. But murders, pogroms and torture keep them in power. The edition told in more detail New York Post.

Those who dared to oppose them were sometimes fed to the tigers, according to the Justice Department.

A newly released indictment accuses 28 members and leaders of the Sinaloa cartel, including El Chapo's four sons - Ivan and Alfredo Guzman Salazar, and Joaquin and Ovidio "Raton" Guzman Lopez - of running "the largest, most violent and most massive fentanyl trafficking operations around the world.”

This shows that the sadistic violence of the brothers and their henchmen knew no bounds, as stated by cartel insiders.

“They are the bosses and the violence they commit is appalling,” one source said. “It seems like nothing can be done to stop it.”

According to the indictment, the 39-year-old Ivan's ranch Navolato (Sinaloa) was where rival traffickers, uncooperative law enforcement and unfaithful cartel members were brought in for interrogation that turned into horror movie scenes.

The indictment says the torture included waterboarding and electric shocks, administered by the Sinaloa Cartel's ninis, a "particularly brutal group of sicarios," or hitmen trained in "urban warfare and sniper skills."

However, once the victims gave out the information they were looking for, they became useless and were disposed of. The lucky ones were lucky to die quickly from the shot.

The less fortunate were fed to tigers, which Ivan and Alfredo, 36, kept as pets.

One of the ninis, according to the indictment, used a corkscrew to rip a muscle off a Mexican federal law enforcement officer and then "poured hot chili into his open wounds and nose."

They say that after that Ivan shot the officer.

That chapitos are killed with impunity is a message that goes far beyond the ranch.

“You can cross the street in Sinaloa and there are black body bags lying on it,” the source said. “You go to school in the morning with your son and you both see these bales and know that there are bodies in them. Nobody says anything. Everyone knows what they mean. The message these bags send is: "Don't give us a hard time or it will happen to you."

Through a process called "cleansing," as described in the indictment, Los Chapitos and their nini brought violence to parts of Mexico where they wanted to control the drug trade.

But ordinary citizens also suffered.

Don Winslow is a writer who has written a well-researched book about the cartels. He said the Sinaloa cartel offered deals.

When the cartel needed cooperation from locals, often as drug dealers, he said, they offered a choice but didn't give them time to think about it.

“You say yes and get a lot of money; you say no and they will kill you and may kill your family,” said the “City of Dreams” author. “They kill your child right in front of your eyes.” If you don't say yes after that, they will kill you. Then they go to the next guy and ask: “Have you seen Philip and his son here?”

As far as the sibling hierarchy goes, Ivan is seen as a favorite of El Chapo and trained for the drug trade from an early age. Sean Penn, describing his secret visit in 2015 to see El Chapo for Rolling Stone, said that Ivan "is considered the heir to the Sinaloa cartel".

Ovidio, 33, is reportedly the least successful of the kids in the family business.

His charming girlfriend, however, belongs to the royal family of the cartel: Adriana Mesa Torres is the daughter of the late Raul Mesa Ontiveros, a member of the old guard of the Sinaloa cartel.

It is said that Alfredo wears a showy wristwatch and aspires to the status of authority.

Little is known about Joaquin, 36, who is said to be more modest than his brothers. Although he and Alfredo are the same age, they have different mothers.

“They are spoiled rich kids who didn’t have to climb the corporate ladder—their name gives them influence,” said Malcolm Bate, author of The Last Narco.

Just how brutal their military can be was made clear when Ovidio, who is in custody in Mexico and is seeking extradition to the US, was arrested in January, resulting in 29 deaths. Cartel members blocked streets, set cars on fire and reportedly even shot at the local airport.

“Drug dealers took to the streets and laid siege to the city,” Bate concluded. "That's the power of the Chapitos."
