FBI prevented large-scale terrorist attack in Los Angeles
The FBI said that a veteran of the US Army with experience in hostilities in Afghanistan planned to organize a terrorist attack with mass casualties in several places in Los Angeles (California).
26-year-old Mark Stephen Domingo was arrested on April 26 after receiving a parcel with what he considered an explosive device and intended to blow up at a rally in Long Beach scheduled for April 28, writes NPR.
A fake improvised explosive device was delivered to Domingo by a law enforcement officer under cover.
According to the affidavit, Domingo planned and actively discussed with the FBI informant the possibility of attacking several places, targeting Jews, policemen, church members and the National Guard arsenal before deciding to attack the Long Beach rally.

In online messages, Domingo expressed support for violent jihad.
“America needs another Vegas... something that will cause social disorder,” he wrote on March 3.
This message was explicitly sent to mass execution in Las Vegas 1 October 2017 year, during which the offender killed a 58 man, and then shot himself.
Domingo also expressed a desire to avenge mass executions of 15 March in two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, in which 50 people died.
“There must be retribution,” he wrote, according to the affidavit.
He bought 8 pounds (3,6 kg) of 3-inch (7,6 cm) nails with which he planned to stuff an improvised explosive device. He said the nails were “long enough to penetrate the human body and pierce internal organs.”

At one of the stages of their conspiracy, Domingo and the informant discussed the plan of attack.
“Your plan is to just go there and get caught. Here’s your plan,” the informant said.
Domingo allegedly replied that he wanted to die for the faith, like a martyr.
The man was arrested on the evening of April 26 as he, an FBI informant and an undercover officer conducted “surveillance” in a Long Beach park “preparing” for a planned terrorist attack.
Domingo served in Afghanistan from September 2012 of the year to January of the 2013 year.
