Iranian elite families lived a luxurious life in the US: now they are facing deportation.

Seven Iranian citizens with ties to the regime in Tehran, including five whose lavish lifestyle in Los Angeles was previously reported by the newspaper New York Post, have been targeted for deportation from the United States as part of a large-scale campaign launched by the State Department.

Among the most notable cases is that of the son of Masoumeh Ebtekar, known as Screaming Mary. She was the spokesperson for the militants involved in the 1979 hostage taking at the US embassy in Tehran.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents detained her son, Seyed Eisa Hashemi, along with his wife and child in Los Angeles this week.

Family members initially reported him missing, and authorities later confirmed he had been taken into custody.

Just a week earlier, two more Iranians linked to the slain General Qasem Soleimani were detained.

Hamida Soleimani Afshar, 47, and her daughter, Sarinasadat Hosseini, 25, lost their green cards on April 3. Afshar is Soleimani's niece, and Hosseini is his great-niece.

Afshar has expressed support for the Iranian regime in public posts, praising its leadership and sharply criticizing the United States.

Dr. Fatemeh Ardeshir-Larijani, the daughter of a high-ranking Iranian official, and her husband, Seyed Kalantar Motamedi, were also expelled from the country amid mounting political pressure.

Previously, Ardeshir-Larijani served as an assistant professor at the Winship Cancer Institute at Emory University in Atlanta.

The coordinated campaign is being spearheaded by Marco Rubio, who opposes individuals associated with the Iranian regime enjoying the benefits of life in the United States.

Washington is now focusing efforts on identifying individuals associated with the Iranian regime, with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents detaining some and revoking the immigration status of others.

The Trump administration has made it a priority to expel anyone associated with the anti-American regime. Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned that the United States "will never allow America to become home to foreign nationals associated with anti-American terrorist regimes."

"America can never become a home for anti-American terrorists or their families – and it will not happen under the Trump administration," he concluded.
