Euro-2016: the head of Russian fans announced expulsion from France

The All-Russian Association of Fans (PSA) reported that its head Alexander Shprygin was being expelled from France, where the European Football Championship is being held.

A message on the organization’s website states that the authorities of Marseille decided to send 20 from 40 from France to the detained members of a PSA delegation, including Shprygin. Another 20 people will be let go.

Shpyrygin himself, in a conversation with the TASS agency, explained that he had learned about the relevant decision from the decision of the prefect of Marseilles, which he had been handed.

According to the head of the PSA, the document states that it was decided to send fans out of the country on the basis of information received from the Russian side.

According to the document, Russia informed the French that members of the VOB delegation “may be part of groups of active fans and thereby pose a security threat.”

Shpyrygin noted that we are talking about expulsion, not deportation without the right to return. In other words, the visas of expelled Russians, according to the head of the PSA, will not be canceled.

To implement the decision to expel 20 fans, Marseille's authorities took five days. Shpyrygin said he plans to appeal the decision.

Members of the delegation were decided to delay hours on 48 for further investigation. The actions of the French police caused a sharp reaction from the Russian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday.

The French authorities are paying increased attention to Russian fans because of the fights that took place in Marseille between Russian and English 11 fans in June.

More than 30 people were injured in the clashes, and the 50-year-old English fan suffered severe injuries that caused brain death.

On suspicion of participation in the riots, at least 20 people were detained, but there were no Russians among them.

The French authorities believe that from the Russian side no less than 150 people were active participants in the clashes, who could not be detained due to their good organization.
