Jewish Federations of North America welcome the extension of the humanitarian password for Ukrainians in the United States

Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) welcome the decision of the US Department of Homeland Security to extend the humanitarian password for Ukrainians for another year. This decision means that some 20 Ukrainians who were forced to flee in the early days of the war, as well as numerous communities in the United States helping Ukrainian displaced people, can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the process of deportation will not begin against the settlers.

Guided by Jewish values, obliging to lend a helping hand to those in need, Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) will continue to support solutions to ensure that Ukrainian migrants, thousands of whom receive assistance from Jewish social organizations across the country, can continue to live in the United States in safety and tranquility.

February 28 Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) together with HIAS and the Jewish Social Services Association (NJHSA) sent an appeal to the US Department of Homeland Security with a call to extend the humanitarian password for Ukrainians.

Last year, Jewish Federations in collaboration with the Shapiro Foundation provided special grants totaling $1 million to help Ukrainian settlers in 20 Jewish communities in the United States and Canada.
