Exhibition 'A New Look at Old Masters'

A New Look at Old Masters will explore different themes from The Met's collection of European paintings, creating new connections between the works of various artists.

While one gallery will focus on still life and genre painting in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, the other two will provide an overview of oil sketches from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries, resulting in an unrivaled collection of works by the Giovanni Battista Tiepolo Museum. The large gallery will display portraits from the Great Age, where outstanding paintings by Peter Paul Rubens and Anthony van Dyck will be juxtaposed with a monumental family portrait of the banker Everhard Jabach by Charles Le Brun.
