Seminar about the Russian ballerina
The webinar will present one of the founders of the Royal Academy of Dance, exploring the career of Russian ballerina Tamara Karsavina, a pioneer of ballet pedagogy in the 20th century.
The seminar will address the key factors that influenced Karsavina's career in training and performance. Participants will become familiar with the four schools of instruction that were used at the Royal Ballet School in the late 19th century. An analysis of excerpts from her 1954 Karsavina curriculum, along with a review of selected works from Dance Times and two books published by Karsavina, will provide a better understanding of the groundbreaking work done by this founding member of RAD.
