'This is not a joke': a snow storm hit the Midwest of the USA
A winter storm covered a number of areas in the Midwestern United States with snow. Now the weather here is reminiscent of Christmas in places. Chicago recorded the earliest snowfall in recent 96 years, writes AccuWeather.
"It is not joke. A winter storm before the end of the week can spoil the 750-mile (466 km) band of the Heartland, ”said Alex Sosnovsky, senior meteorologist at AccuWeather.
“An increasing storm is intensifying from the south to the northeast across the country,” said Issak Longley, meteorologist AccuWeather.
According to Longley, in many places until the end of the week in the east and midwest there will be serious consequences of this storm.
The storm began Tuesday night in the Rocky Mountains. Snow fell in cities such as Denver and Colorado Springs, where the snow season has already begun.

Denver police responded to more than 90 traffic accidents on Monday, October 28. Then in the city fell about 2 inches (5,08 cm) of snow.
A powerful storm system will shift east and pass through the Midwest and Great Lakes.
“While there will be gusty winds in the east and moderate or heavy rainfall, the cold air around the west side from Kansas will bring accumulating snow to Michigan,” Longley said.
Snowfall will usually be small, but it is expected to increase significantly as the storm increases from Thursday to Friday.
Gusts of wind around the Great Lakes will be 55 miles / hour (88,5 km / hour). Around the northeast, they will reach a forecast of hurricane strength around Lake Erie and Ontario.
Forecasters can not yet indicate where the strongest snow will fall and the most powerful winds will arise. Everything will depend on the movement of the storm. For example, a track difference of 100 miles or less may mean the difference between heavy snow or lighter snow or even rain in cities such as Chicago, Milwaukee and Des Moines, Iowa.

It is currently expected that the heaviest snow will fall near the northeastern border of the Iowa / Illinois state through parts of northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin, and northern Michigan.
Weather forecasters have high confidence that a heavy snowfall will develop and affect large cities such as Madison, Wisconsin, Rockford, Illinois, Davenport and Iowa.

“A few centimeters of snow will fall on this site, and some regions will receive up to a foot (0,3 meters),” Longley said.
In addition to heavy rainfall, powerful winds can create blowing and drifting snow.
Wind and snow in areas where trees have not yet lost most of their leaves can damage them, resulting in a power outage.
