An AI-generated actress is taking Hollywood by storm, leaving movie stars horrified.
An AI actress named Tilly Norwood has caused a storm of controversy after her creators revealed the AI-generated performer is in talks with talent agencies, writes Air force.
Looking at Norwood's social media posts and photos, at first glance, she might seem like an ordinary young aspiring actress. The brunette poses for photos and performs a completely AI-generated comedy sketch in which she is described as the "girl next door."
"I may be an AI, but right now I'm experiencing very real emotions," Tilly's creators wrote on her page. "I'm so excited for what's to come!"

However, Hollywood isn't rolling out the red carpet for her. The powerful actors' union has condemned this creation.
Tilly Norwood was up against A-list stars including Emily Blunt, Natasha Lyonne and Whoopi Goldberg.
"Norwood is not an actress. She is a character created by a computer program trained on the work of countless professional performers," the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Broadcasters (SAG-AFTRA) said.
"She has no life experience, no emotions. Based on our observations, viewers are not interested in watching computer-generated content that doesn't connect with human experience," the union emphasized.
Tilly Norwood was created by Dutch actress and comedian Elaine van der Velden, who wanted Norwood to be "the new Scarlett Johansson".
The AI actress's Instagram page features footage from fake auditions and a commercial parodying BBC programmes.
Amid criticism in Hollywood, Elaine van der Velden wrote on Tilly's Instagram page that the AI actress "is not a replacement for a human, but a creative work, a work of art."
"Creating Tilly was an act of imagination for me, much like drawing a character or writing a script," the Dutch actress wrote, noting that such works should be judged "within their genre" and not compared to real actors.
This isn't the first time AI technologies have sparked heated debate in Hollywood. They were a stumbling block during the strikes that paralyzed the film industry two years ago, when writers and actors demanded protection from these cutting-edge technologies.
In SAG-AFTRA's statement about Norwood, the union reminded agencies and studios that using an AI actress in projects could cause problems with contractual guarantees that were secured after the 2023 strike.
"This approach doesn't solve a 'problem'—it creates one: it uses stolen performances to put actors out of work, jeopardizes their livelihoods, and devalues human talent," the statement said.
Actress and film director Natasha Lyonne, known for her leading roles in the series Poker Face, Orange Is the New Black and Russian Doll, said that screen actors' guilds should boycott agencies that work with Norwood.
Lyonne's co-star, actress Emily Blunt, admitted that Norwood intimidates her.
"Is this AI? Oh my God, we're in danger," the Oscar-nominated actress declared after seeing footage of Norwood. "This is truly terrifying. Agencies, please stop!"
On the American talk show The View, actress Whoopi Goldberg noted that viewers can tell the difference between humans and artificial actors. She expressed skepticism about concerns that AI will take over actors' jobs because "they move differently, our faces move differently, our bodies move differently."

Although Norwood's Instagram has been active for several months, her existence only became known in Hollywood recently, after Deadline reported on a summit her creator spoke at in Zurich in late September.
The summit was part of the Zurich Film Festival. Van der Velden suggested that Hollywood studios and agencies have been quietly exploring AI for some time now. She told the audience to expect public announcements of projects using this technology in the coming months.
