Ex-Minister of Defense of Ukraine made an unexpected statement about who “passed” the Crimea of ​​Russia

Former Minister of Defense of Ukraine Igor Tenyukh told how participants meetings of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) 28 February 2014, among which were the former heads of the Ukrainian government Yulia Tymoshenko and Arseniy Yatsenyuk, blocked the decision to protect the Crimea by the Ukrainian military against the invasion of Russian troops and the further annexation of the peninsula.

He made such a statement in the course of testifying in the case of the former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych.

“After I voiced the issue of deploying troops, this caused great resistance from, first of all, Tymoshenko, who said that I did not understand the whole situation, this would provoke Russia, and that we need to look not only at Crimea, but also at the whole of Ukraine.” “Yanukovych’s lawyer Vitaly Serdyuk quoted Tenyukh’s words on his social network page Facebook.

According to the ex-minister, Arseniy Yatsenyuk also took the side of Tymoshenko.

“I asked if they would at least look at the plan we developed, to which I heard nothing in response,” Tenyukh said.

According to him, the Ministry of Defense insisted on the need to create a government commission, whose representatives were to fly to Crimea and from there direct the processes that took place on the peninsula.

“However, Yatsenyuk called such a plan inappropriate, because representatives of Kyiv could be arrested on the territory of Crimea. I emphasized and insisted on the deployment of troops to the south, north and east, but no one supported me,” Tenyukh added.

Ex-Minister of Defense was questioned in a criminal case against the former head of state Viktor Yanukovych, who is suspected of committing crimes under Article 1 of Art. 111 (treason), h. 5 Art. 27, h. 3 Art. 110 (aiding in deliberate acts committed to change the borders of the territory and state border of Ukraine) and part 5 Art. 27, h. 2 Art. 437 (aiding in the conduct of an aggressive war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
