Every December, the White House is filled with holiday decorations: Christmas trees, wreaths, garlands, colorful lights, gingerbread houses and more. Those who wish can come and look at this splendor (if you want to know how to visit the decorated presidential residence, read on).

What inspired the First Lady

The theme chosen by Jill Biden when decorating the White House was the opening words of the US Constitution, "We the People."

Decorations for 2022 include 25 holiday wreaths, 77 Christmas trees and over 83 lights. White House website.

Her Majesty Christmas tree

The main White House Christmas tree this year is a nearly 6-meter Concolor fir from the Evergreen Acres Christmas tree farm in Auburn, Pennsylvania. First Lady Jill Biden continued the tradition of inspecting the tree when it arrived at North Portico in a horse-drawn wagon. A majestic tree was installed in the Blue Room of the White House.

On November 30, 2022, the National Christmas Tree will be lit at the Ellipse. Free tickets were drawn in an online lottery at the end of October.

You can watch the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 11 on CBS at 20:00 pm ET.

The public is invited to attend the National Christmas Tree starting December 2nd. More information here.
