An autopsy found Benadryl, an allergy medication that causes drowsiness, in the bodies of Sarah Hart and several of the children. According to the Associated Press, Jennifer Hart, who was driving the car, had a blood alcohol level above the legal limit at the time of the crash.

The bodies of five children - 19-year-old Martin, 14-year-olds Abigail and Jeremiah, 16-year-old Hannah and 12-year-old Sierra, as well as the bodies of both women - were found in or near the vehicle, which fell roof down into the water from a great height. on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. 15-year-old Devonte is officially missing but presumed dead.

Investigators found out that the couple had been repeatedly accused of child abuse, and a few days before the disaster, Washington state officials began an investigation. It all started after Devonte rang the doorbell of the neighbors and said that his parents did not give their children food.

Two days before the tragedy, a police officer and a representative of the social services for the protection of children came to their home, but no one answered, wrote Mirror. The neighbors said that the women and all their children were very hastily gathered and left the house shortly after the visit. The children, they said, repeatedly went to nearby homes and asked for food, saying that this was a parental punishment.

In 2010, Sarah Hart confessed that she had harmed her daughter Abigail, and was convicted of domestic violence. Then the family lived in Minnesota. The teacher at the school noticed bruises on the back and stomach of the girl. Hart said her "angel was out of control" and beat the girl in the bathroom. She was put on 90 days, but the woman was granted amnesty and immediately released.
