A raccoon broke into a Virginia liquor store, got drunk on whiskey, caused a ruckus, and fell asleep drunk in the restroom.

A Virginia liquor store owner encountered an unusual customer last weekend – a raccoon found dead drunk on the floor of a restroom, reports ABC News.

According to Hanover County Animal Services, store employees discovered a "masked bandit" lying drunk in the restroom of the Ashland ABC store on the morning of November 29. The furry "burglar" had already raided shelves and sampled several types of alcohol.

В message on social networks Animal control officials said they took the "very drunk" raccoon to a shelter to sleep it off and then released it back into the wild.

"After a few hours of sleep and showing no signs of injury (other than perhaps a hangover and some poor life choices), he was safely released back into the wild. Hopefully, he's learned that trespassing is a bad idea," the statement reads. Facebook posts.

Hanover County Animal Services helps rescued animals when they are found in the wild.

"The shelter provides veterinary care to homeless or unwanted animals until they are adopted or transferred to an animal rescue organization," the shelter's website says.
