Sperm donor fathered 15 children, but hid his dangerous genetic disease from expectant mothers
James McDougall, 37, who advertised himself as a sperm donor on Facebook, fathered 15 children with lesbian women even though he knew he had Fragile X Syndrome. This is a genetic disorder that leads to low IQ and developmental delay. New York Post.

McDougall's identity came to light in family court in Derby, UK, after he applied to take parental responsibility and share in the upbringing of his four children. True, he initially signed an agreement that states that he will not be in contact with some of his children.
But the mothers of the babies were against his demands.
Derby Court Judge Natalie Lieven revealed McDougall's identity to prevent other women from using him as a sperm donor and ruled that he should not be held responsible for the children as it would harm them.

In addition, the judge banned McDougall from filing a lawsuit for the next three years - he did not realize his behavior, as well as the fact that it traumatized mothers.
The court heard one of the women, identified as SW, aged 25, who came into contact with McDougall after seeing his advertisement. Now her children are 3 and 2 years old.
A SW child at 3 years old does not speak and behaves difficult due to fragile X syndrome.
According to the Mirror, after giving birth, SW contacted McDougall, who visited her often. She became pregnant with her second child while he was living in her home during the COVID-19 lockdown until she asked him to leave in June 2020.
SW claimed that he made sexual comments about her and showered with her older child at least twice. The man was arrested in June 2020 for assaulting her.
In another court, McDougall won a case that allowed him to have regular contact with a boy born in July 2018.
However, the child often returned to his mother with bruises, and Natalie Lieven postponed the consideration of this case for a while until the report of the guardianship authority was ready, reports Infosmi.
James McDougall decided to get into private sperm donations via social media because, as he testified in court, he would not be able to get clinical approval given his medical condition.
The judge refused to believe McDougall's claim that he was explaining to expectant mothers the consequences of Martin-Bell syndrome.
“There is a particular benefit to having his name known, because then other women, by going to James McDougall on the Internet, will be able to find this court decision,” the judge said, declining his lawyer’s request for anonymity.
“The usual approach of anonymity in family courts should not be used as a way for parents to behave in an inappropriate manner and then hide behind a mask of anonymity,” she said.

McDougall's adoptive parents, June and John, came out in defense of their son and said he was a "victim".
“He is kind-hearted and will do anything for anyone, but he is trusting,” said June. “As far as we know, he did not seek any money for providing this service.”
McDougall was accused of taking advantage of women's desire to have children and not worrying about the detrimental effect of his dangerous genetic disease on these families.
