Donald Trump promised to run for the Republican Party
Billionaire Donald Trump on Thursday signed a pledge not to run as an independent candidate, but to run for the Republican Party.
“I guarantee my loyalty to the Republican Party and the conservative principles it defends,” CNN quoted Trump as saying.
Now Trump is becoming a serious obstacle on the way to the White House for another favorite of the race from Republicans - Florida Governor Jeb Bush.
At the same time, Trump's decision put an end to fears in the Republican Party about a split in its electorate similar to what happened in 1992. Then independent candidate Ross Perot, who was sympathetic to the conservative wing of the Republican Party, “took away” 19% of the Republican votes in the elections, thus putting an end to the presidential career of their leader, George H. W. Bush.
Ранее it was reported that Donald Trump's popularity almost caught up with Hillary Clinton, the most likely Democratic candidate. This is evidenced by findings a survey conducted by CNN in conjunction with research agency ORC International. According to him, Clinton has 51%, Trump has 46%.
