American kindness: life lessons in the USA
On November 13, Kindness Day is celebrated all over the world. Kindness, or at least politeness, is what distinguishes Americans from residents of post-Soviet countries.
It sounds trite, but it is simply impossible not to note, writes one of the authors “Yandex Zen".
I have repeatedly heard from compatriots who have visited the United States that, compared to Russians, Americans are very kind, friendly and polite. We have all at least once heard the expression “Cheeeeeez” (from the word Cheese - smile broadly and show your teeth) - “American smile”. For comparison, in Russia you can more often hear another expression - “Laughter for no reason...”. If you think about it, these expressions reflect cultural differences.
And although I do not have a direct goal of putting Russia in such a “disadvantageous” position as compared with America, it just so happens that you cannot hide the reality. Well, just in the blood of a Russian person to enjoy the opportunity to somehow humiliate another person and at the same time feel a sense of superiority and power. Looking back to childhood, neighbors, teachers, and generally familiar and unfamiliar passers-by with such a “mask” on their face emerge in memory.
Of course, it would be totally unfair to generalize; there are also such rare individuals who can smile affably to a stranger. But it is such a rarity, rather the exception, not the rule.
Surely, everyone has thousands of examples when you were “surrounded by three floors”, “they barked”, “weighed down” (sorry for the vocabulary, although these are not the worst expressions in rich Russian, all of us, alas, friends). By the way, all these expressions are untranslatable vocabulary. Literally. Do not find in the English language, even a little bit similar epithets.
A question often comes to my mind - what is the meaning of life? Depending on the mood, the answers are different, but one always comes to mind - to make sure that the people who surround us do not suffer from our presence and do not feel humiliated, but on the contrary - that they want to live and create after communicating with us .
