What is the GoodNature Stool Donation Program

The GoodNature stool donation program collects stool from healthy people for study to advance treatment or provide therapy for the potentially fatal gastrointestinal disease C. difficile, a bacterium that can cause diarrhea and other life-threatening conditions.

Who is eligible to participate

Unfortunately, not everyone can become the hero of this story. Here are the eligibility requirements for the program:

• regular bowel movements;
• age from 18 to 50 years;
• normal weight;
• no tobacco addiction;
• no history of gastrointestinal disease, alcohol or drug abuse;
• you are not pregnant;
• living near one of the donation centers.

The last requirement is probably the stumbling block. If you happen to live in Los Angeles (California), Boston (Massachusetts) or Phoenix (Arizona), then you are close enough to one of the donation sites to participate. You will have to defecate in one of the toilets directly at the collection point at least three times a week. You will also have your blood drawn there every two to six weeks.

Depending on which office you are assigned to, you will be able to receive from $25 to $75 per visit, that is, in general, this is up to $1500 per month.
