A girl with cerebral palsy saved a one-year-old brother who fell into the pool
In Canada, in the city of Halifax in Nova Scotia, nine-year-old Lexi Comus-Jackson, suffering from cerebral palsy, rescued her one-year-old brother Leland, who fell into the pool, writes CNN.
Family and friends gathered together to celebrate Lexi’s birthday and were busy, not noticing how Leland went for a walk in the backyard and was about to jump into the pool. Lexi noticed what could happen and screamed with all her might to attract the attention of adults.
The girl has cerebral palsy, she can not walk and talk.
“I was upstairs getting dressed for the party, my dad was getting my older brother ready, my mom was in the kitchen when I suddenly heard Lexie screaming. I panicked, I thought she must have fallen out of the chair,” recalls the children’s mother, Kelly Jackson.
Grandma Lexi rushed to the screaming child. She realized that Lilenda was not around, and Lexi continued to scream and pointed to the door leading to the pool.
“When my mom told me what was happening, I quickly looked out the window and saw his little head on the edge of the pool. I started to panic, but my mom quickly ran to him and pulled him out,” Kelly said.
“It was very scary at that moment... In a second, your whole life can change, and we are just grateful that Lexi warned us so quickly,” the mother says.
The city authorities appreciated the girl’s deed, and the local police presented her with a certificate of honor.
