An autistic girl, to whom no one came on her birthday, received 10 thousands of postcards
18-year-old autistic girl Haley Sorenson from Bangor, Maine, who celebrated her birthday alone in the past year, received more than 10 thousands of postcards thanks to her cousin's appeal on social networks.
Rebecca Guilford of Massachusetts told 6 on June a sad story about Hayley, whom no one had come to for her birthday at a bowling club. Post Rebecca on Facebook spread more than 230 thousands of people.
“Haley loves receiving letters and this would be the best birthday gift for her,” Guilford wrote. “It will also mean a lot to her mother, who, as you can imagine, was heartbroken to see her child crying on the holiday.”
The power of the Internet reportedly worked - the girl began to instantly receive many congratulations to her email and special page Facebook dedicated to her birthday.
Hayley will turn 19 on July 19th. Among the cards she received were congratulations from the Boston Red Sox, the Washington Redskins, former athlete John Elway, and even the state of Ohio.
In addition, new friends, some even from other countries, send the girl flowers, plush toys and music CDs.
