On November 20, about 80 people broke into a Nordstrom store near San Francisco and stole goods.
The authorities called this "organized theft."
Walnut Creek police said on November 21 that they had arrested three people in connection with an incident at a luxury department store, including one who allegedly had a weapon.
“The remaining members of this criminal gang fled the spot in cars at high speed,” officials added.
A video of the scene posted on Twitter shows cars blocking the street outside the store as people flee and police make arrests with pistols.
The massive theft was the latest in a series of large-scale robberies in the Bay Area, ranging from pharmacies to jewelry stores to cannabis dispensaries, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Walnut Creek Police said they began receiving calls on the evening of November 20 about people recklessly driving in the Broadway Plaza area.
Employees started calling 911 when the group entered the store and started stealing groceries.
The suspects attacked two Nordstrom workers and used pepper spray, police said.
“There was a crowd of people,” said Brett Barrett, manager of nearby PF Chang's Restaurant. - The police arrived. It was like a scene from a movie. It was crazy."
Investigators are currently examining surveillance videos to identify additional suspects.
