Somaliian deported from the United States committed a terrorist attack in Canada

30-year-old Somali refugee Hassan Sharif Abdulahi committed a terrorist attack in Canada on October 1 - he attacked a police officer in Edmonton with a knife, after which he hit four pedestrians with a car and was detained.

According to the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service, in the 2011 year, this man was decided to be deported from the States, but he appealed, and in 2012, he was granted asylum in Canada, according to ABC News.

By decision of the American authorities, 22 September 2011, Abdulahi was to be deported from the state of California to Somalia for violating immigration laws, but he filed a complaint and on November 23, 2011 was released.

By a court decision, the Somalian was supposed to appear in one of the immigration centers in California 24 January 2012, but he did not. The staff of the state migration service could not find it. According to ICE, at the time of the decision to deport a Somali there was no information that he had ever committed criminal offenses.

Later it turned out that in 2012, Abdulahi legally crossed the Canadian-American border and applied for refugee status in Canada, which was soon granted.

The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service translated the Somali name a little differently than the Canadians did, but law enforcement officials in both countries confirmed that it was one and the same person.

Canadian police previously suspected Abdulahi of radical inclinations - in 2015 he was added to the list of supporters of extremist ideology, but after an investigation the suspicions were withdrawn.

Law enforcement officers published a video of the attack, which shows how a criminal's car knocks down officer Mike Blueberry, after that the driver attacks him with a knife and runs away. The policeman was injured, but as of October 4, already discharged from the hospital, his life is not in danger.

After the attack on the officer, the terrorist disappeared in a car, followed by a chase. According to eyewitnesses, he was harassed around 30 cars. Running away from law enforcement officers, Abdulahi shot down four people, at the moment nothing threatens their lives.

As a result of the chase, the criminal's car overturned and, using a stun gun, the police arrested him.

On October 3, the first court session in this case took place; Somalis are accused of five assassination attempts, four cases of grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving a car and possession of weapons; terrorism charges have not yet been filed. According to the police, terrorism charges may be brought shortly after a full-scale investigation.

Hearings on the case will begin no later than November 14; before that, Abdulahi needed to find a lawyer.
