US Independence Day in Chicago: 4 killed and 62 injured
Four people died from gunshot wounds and 62 were injured in Chicago on July 4th.
Among the victims was 5-year-old girl and her 8-year-old brother, who were wounded in the leg while playing spies in West Inglewood. The 11-year-old boy was injured in the arm, but the relatives first thought that the injury was due to the fireworks. A 15-year-old boy was shot in the chest when he left the store in Gresham on the south side.
Almost all executions took place in the same areas as on Memorial Day.
Last week, the Chicago Police Department chief announced that there would be thousands of additional patrols on the streets during the weekend weekend.
This year, the number of victims is slightly lower than in the past, when 10 people were killed and 55 was injured. In 2014 on the fourth of July, 16 people were killed and 66 was injured.
