The Democratic Party officially named Trump rival in the 2020 elections

Despite the fact that primaries have not yet passed in all states, the Democratic Party has already decided on its candidate in the 2020 presidential election. As expected, he became the former US Vice President Joe Biden, who collected the necessary votes for the 1990 delegates, writes with the BBC.

In his Twitter microblog, the politician wrote that now the struggle “for the soul of the nation” will begin.

According to analysts, the main topics of Biden’s election campaign will be the fight against coronavirus, the problem of unemployment, as well as mass protests against racism.

He lost in the first primaries - in Iowa and New Hampshire. But he got a landslide victory in South Carolina, after which his campaign began to pick up momentum and his rivals began to fade from the scene. Democratic Party members in eight states and three U.S. territories have not yet voted in the primaries. But, regardless of their outcome, other candidates no longer have a chance to get the required number of votes for the nomination.

“I am proud to have competed against some of the most talented candidates on the Democratic ticket and proud to see unity in our ranks heading into the election,” the former vice president said.

Biden is 77 years old. This is the third time he has been nominated for the presidency of the United States, but received the nomination for the first time.

“This is a difficult moment in American history,” Biden said. “And Donald Trump's angry, divisive policies are not helping the country. The country desperately needs a leader. A leader who could unite us all.”

Ex-President Barack Obama approved the nomination of his former associate to the presidency. In a video message released in April, Obama said that Biden has all the qualities that the head of state needs now.

President Donald Trump said he's looking forward to taking on his rival, whom he calls "Sleepy Joe." Trump himself has virtually no rivals in the Republican Party, and his nomination is not even in question.

Even before being officially nominated as a Democratic candidate, Biden had to face problems.

He was forced to apologize for his words that African Americans cannot consider themselves black, even if they are only thinking about voting for Trump.

Donald Trump and Joe Biden have already clashed more than once on these issues, and are expected to be the dominant theme in the upcoming election campaign.
