Delta introduces free text messaging from flights around the world
Airline Delta (DAL) from October 1 will provide passengers on flights around the world the opportunity to send free text messages through the application Gogo.
“We want our customers to stay connected during the flight,” the CEO was quoted as saying Delta Ed Bastian CNN.
Free messages will be available on airliners with two or more salons. Travelers can access this feature through the portal page. Wi-Fi on Delta flights at: airborne.gogoinflight.com.
According to the airline spokesperson, Delta uses 1300 airplanes around the world, and all but 130 have Wi-Fi on board.
Gogo is a popular in-flight Internet entertainment service used by airlines. Price for Wi-Fi via Gogo on flights varies depending on the chosen plan, but customers Delta don't have to pay for Wi-Fi to send text messages from an airplane.
New feature will allow passengers Delta send messages through iMessage, WhatsApp and Facebook Messengerbut it will be available only for text messages and will not support sending photos or video files.
