Cake decorator at Costco took the order too literally and made people laugh online

Many of us know that when customizing something, it's always best to include as many details as possible to avoid confusion. Even better, if you give a link to a picture or sketch. But for one Costco customer, this strategy turned ordering a cake into something very outrageous. Writes about it New York Post.

Reddit user r/mildlyInfuriating shared how Costco completely misunderstood his order, even though he was pretty clear about what he wanted.

Perhaps a little too clear.

According to the post, the customer went into great detail about the product they wanted, filling out all relevant categories on the cake order form and even offering a sketch of what they thought the cake should look like.

“No writing/no design,” it says next to the image. “Only red icing around the perimeter.”

Just in case anyone missed the details, the customer even crossed out and wrote the word "no" in the "Cake Design" section of the order form.

Unfortunately for the client, the decorator took the information too literally and offered a white cake with a diagram in the center of the cake.

And this, of course, is not what the client wanted.

The post caused a lot of laughter in the thread, many were outraged by the order, but most of the users sided with the decorator, saying that he fully followed the description.

“The good news is that he read both pages,” wrote one user.

“Honestly, I am very impressed with how close the drawing is to the figure you have depicted,” remarked another.
