“I give you 24 hours”: Zelensky called Poroshenko to a debate at the stadium. VIDEO

Ukrainian presidential candidate and leader of the first round of elections Vladimir Zelensky challenged the current President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to a debate. According to Zelensky’s terms, the debate should take place at the Kiev Olympic Stadium and be as open as possible.

Zelensky’s video message to Poroshenko appeared on the “Ze!President” channel on YouTube. In the first frames of the video, Zelensky walks along the corridor of the NSC Olimpiysky.

“I am addressing Petro Poroshenko. You are calling me to a debate. They dreamed that I would run away, freeze off, and hide. No. “I am not you in 2014,” the candidate began his video speech with these words.

“I accept the challenge,” Zelensky says and voices his conditions for the debate.

In the following frames, he climbs the stairs and enters the stadium arena.

“I’m waiting for you here at the NSC Olimpiysky.” The debate will take place before the people of Ukraine. All channels have the right to broadcast live, all journalists have the right to attend. Candidates must undergo a medical examination and prove to the people that among them there are no alcoholics or drug addicts. The country needs a healthy president,” Zelensky said.

“As a sign of respect for a third of the citizens of Ukraine, you must publicly say that the debate will take place not with a puppet of the Kremlin or Kolomoisky, not with a quilted jacket, not with a Little Russian, not with a cattle, not with a clown, but with the presidential candidate of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky. I give you 24 hours. Think,” added the leader of the presidential race.

The Petro Poroshenko Bloc has already responded to Zelensky’s challenge, writes Public. On the TV channel, MP Maria Ionova said that the president would not hold a debate with Zelensky at the stadium in Kiev.

“That’s why we are talking about these debates... President Poroshenko is a European, and he will not meet at the stadium, he will meet in a television studio, where the debate should take place normally, professionally... and he (Zelensky - ed.) can come to the stadium Pavelko (President of the Football Federation of Ukraine - ed.) and play football,” said Ionova.

Judging by the reaction of Poroshenko’s entourage, he was afraid of an open debate in front of the people. Lately, he’s generally afraid to go out to people - obviously, he’s afraid that he’ll be booed and bullied at the stadium just like him predecessors of Yanukovych and Yushchenko.

As for the stadium, the press service of the National Public Television and Radio Company of Ukraine stated that it has the technical ability to broadcast from Olympic, but this cannot be called a debate, writes Ukrainian Truth.

On the channel refer to the provisions of the Central Election Commission (CEC) to hold debates from 2014 year. It states that debates are held in the studio (room) of the national broadcaster.

“Therefore, now the floor is up to the Central Election Commission. If they adopt a new provision in which they exclude this norm, then debate is possible. If not, then it will be a show, or a discussion, but not a debate,” the press service said.
