Fortune Telling: How Pennsylvania Cookies and Ohio Rolls Predict the Presidential Election Winner
Bakers in Pennsylvania and Ohio are using a very American method – sales success – to predict the outcome of presidential elections. The Pennsylvania bakery claims to have correctly predicted the results of three of the last four elections, writes the website Silvie. And the owners of a bakery from Ohio told the publication New York Post, that for 40 years in a row their buns have never been wrong.

Based on cookie sales, Lochel's Bakery in Hatboro, Pennsylvania, has correctly predicted the winner of three of the last four presidential elections. And this year, Trump is leading the pack in sales.
Of the nearly 25 "election" cookies sold at the bakery this year, 000 were Trump 23 cookies, sugar cookies with red and white sprinkles.
The bakery also offers blue and white Harris 2024 cookies, said store owner Kathleen Lochel.
"The Trump name, whether you like him or not, gets attention," she said.

The cookies became very popular in 2020 when the 45th president's son Eric Trump visited the bakery. Orders started pouring in from all over the country. And although Trump's cookies significantly outsold Democrat Joe Biden's cookies in the last election, Biden still won the election.
Since then, Lochel cookies have become something of a calling card for Trump supporters across the country.
"I get a lot of criticism for that," Lochel said. "People think I'm campaigning for Republicans with my cookies. But I can't influence what people buy."
Lochel said she has no favorites in 2024. Her bakery has signs in her window promoting both Trump and Harris. And she knows her bakery's sales are a very unscientific way to predict the outcome of the presidential election.
However, the cookie has correctly predicted the winners in three of the last four White House races since 2008.
Pennsylvania is considered a key swing state in this year's elections. But no matter who wins, Kathleen Lochel has chosen a clever marketing ploy to advertise her sugar buns.
Ohio Nostradamus Buns
Meanwhile, Busken Bakery in Cincinnati, Ohio, prides itself on having correctly predicted the outcome of every presidential election since 1984.
At least that's what owner Dan Busken claims: "My bakery has predicted every presidential election since 1984 - and hasn't been wrong once!"

“We’re famous for our predictions. We started in 1982 with a poll about who would win the Super Bowl,” Basken said. “We baked buns for each team and then counted how many were sold. We did another poll for the Reagan-Mondale race in 1984, and we’ve been right in almost every election since then.”
And what about the forecast of the results of the current elections?
“Trump has a huge advantage so far,” the bakery owner said. “He’s already 20 Trump buns sold, only 312 Harris buns».
