CNN called the occupied Crimea Russian: the reaction of Kiev
It seems that not everyone in the United States knows that Russia has occupied the Ukrainian peninsula, writes “Today«.
The American television channel CNN in its New Year's edition called the occupied Crimea Russian territory. Already followed the reaction of Ukrainian diplomacy.
In a story about how the New Year is celebrated in different parts of the world, the Americans showed a video from Simferopol occupied by Russia, but made a mistake by signing the location in the credits as “Simferopol, Russia.”
In turn, the Ukrainian embassy in the United States explained that the Crimea is Ukrainian territory.
“We hope our friends at CNN will do a better job of fact-checking and curating content. Simferopol is a Ukrainian city on the Crimean Peninsula, which is occupied by Russia."- The embassy said on Twitter.
It should be noted that the annexed peninsula is not for the first time designated either as part of Russia or as a separate state in general, as the German publishing house issued in its atlas series.
Russia annexed Crimea in the 2014 year, the international community considers the peninsula occupied territory of Ukraine.
