Today I’ll tell you about the cheapest goods in America. Perhaps it’s worth starting with the fact that you’re unlikely to find anything cheaper than a dollar. Well, maybe some sauce in a can or some small items in a seasonal item. For America, 1 dollar is usually the lower threshold for the cost of goods and a very attractive price.

That is why in the States there is a retail network of fixed prices, Dollar Tree, where any product can be bought for just 1 dollar. The first Dollar Tree store opened in 1954 and almost immediately became incredibly popular. Today, the network has more than 13 thousands of stores in 48 states.

This store is interesting to buyers, first of all, at the price, however there is something else.

Dollar Tree stores are not small stalls at the market where they bring discounted goods from all over the city. These are huge spacious supermarkets with a nice big parking lot. The store has a full display and does not create the feeling of wholesale sales from a warehouse. Usually they are located outside the city, but in the States almost all large stores are located outside the city and you need to get to them by car. This is more a nuance of America than a feature of the trading network.

In Dollar Tree, you can buy all groups of goods, as in any other supermarket.

There are dishes, toys, household chemicals, a department with goods for motorists, everything for repairs, office, cosmetics, party goods, as well as seasonal goods that are displayed in the promotional area at the entrance.

Also in this store are sold food. These are mainly durable goods, such as sweets, drinks and canned goods, ketchup sauces and chips, but there you can buy sausages, bread and frozen convenience foods.

Here you will not find vegetables, perishable dairy products, cheese or meat. But you will be able to buy something for dinner (it all depends on what you eat for dinner).

Initially, the store was designed for hard workers who earned every dollar by hard work.

“Our customers work hard, and with us they can find the best deals at a great price,” states the slogan on the company’s website.

Since the opening of the first store, the prices of goods in Dollar Tree have remained unchanged, which, if you think about it, is surprising even for America.

These stores are a good support for people with low incomes, but the parking lot is filled with more than just worn-out, rusty wrecks. Regular Target customers (a retail chain for people with above-average incomes) come here to buy some items.

For example, party supplies, gift wrapping paper, Christmas tinsel and everything that will be used once (or several days), and in regular stores all this costs much more than $ 1.

Also, this store is an absolute favorite among all the kids. Where else can you spend your wealth so economically!

Dollar tree for me

Personally, I buy gift bags and gift paper at the dollar store. Some office supplies, sometimes dishes. Very often, something for repair (screwdrivers, mounting ties, tape, brushes, work gloves, glue) - everything that I often use in my creative work and that in any other store would be many times more expensive. We also buy some things for the car here. For example, summer windshield washer fluid, rags and washcloths.

Another dollar-store hit is bright metal boxes with a lid for storing things. They appear before every holiday in themed colors and are ideal for gift wrapping. I buy such boxes and, putting homemade cookies in them, congratulate my teachers (at the language school) and the teachers at my daughters’ school. There are also wonderful seasonal offers, when for the same $1 you can buy, for example, bright large towels for the beach. They, of course, are incomparable to thick bath towels, but for their intended purpose (light, you can dry yourself with them and dry quickly) they are ideal. And all for the same $1!

What I don't buy in a dollar store

Definitely products, as well as all that will come in contact with food when heated. I do not buy disposable baking forms from dense foil at the price of 5 pcs for $ 1. I do not know what they are made of, and I am not sure that when heated, they will not emit harmful substances into my food. Also, I do not buy food wrap and foil here.

Dollar Tree is a wonderful place and definitely one of my favorites. There is freedom here for creative people who see unusual uses in familiar things. And here you can buy a lot for decoration and not go broke.
