The secrets of saving: what is worth buying in July, and what is better to refuse
If you want to save money in the summer, July is the best time.
This month will be a lot of promotions, including the Day of Independence, sales, as well as the distribution of free samples of ice cream.
Buy: Patriotic Things
Every year, on the eve of July, the shops are filled with everything patriotic: with red, blue and white with stars and stripes. Get ready for discounts on clothes in moles and for decorations in festive goods stores. Wait for the weekend to buy items at the best price.
Some stores expand sales on other products. For example, last year, stocks affected food, household appliances, mattresses and more.
This year, Lowe's home goods store offers discounts of up to 40% on holiday equipment. This offer ends on July 10.
Do not buy: school supplies
Retailers start selling school supplies in July, but you will save more if you wait with the purchase of a backpack or laptop. School-oriented deals have historically peaked at the end of August and at the beginning of September, when stores are more interested in clearing shelves from them.
Buy: Summer clothes
By July, T-shirts, shorts and slippers finally fell in price and it’s time to stock up on them, and maybe next year.
Look for discounts and coupons specifically for clothing departments. For example, the designer brand Coach has already started the summer sale, clothing and accessories stores, such as Forever 21 and Old Navy, are also preparing to launch seasonal sales. And on July 19, Nordstrom's anniversary sale will begin.
Do not buy: lawn mowers
July is not the best time to buy large outdoor items such as lawn mowers. You're not the only one thinking about taking care of your yard, and higher demand traditionally means higher prices.
By August and September there will be more interesting discounts on street goods, so put off a purchase for another month or two.
Buy: Travel
July is a great time to book a vacation for a later period this year.
July is the most popular (and expensive) month of the summer for air travel, according to a report from CheapAir.com, an online travel agency. However, if you are interested in flying for the fall/winter, then July is a great time to book it.
If you just need to buy tickets for July, CheapAir recommends traveling on Tuesday and avoiding flights on Sunday.
Bonus: Black Friday July
On Black Friday this month, big discounts are expected on clothing and electronics. Retailers often offer good discounts in an attempt to increase the usually passive summer sales.
This year, Amazon is holding its annual July 15 and 16 prime day with limited time offers. Walmart, Target and Forever 21 also announced Black Friday summer.
And ice cream
July 21 is National Ice Cream Day. Use this as an excuse to treat yourself to your favorite treat.
In past years, some ice cream shops offered free treats or good discounts on them on this day.
