What do immigrants who do not have the money to pay USCIS fees

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) suggests revising Form I-912 "Request for waiver of fees"which gives the right to receive benefits depending on the person’s income.

Eligibility for these privileges may vary from state to state, depending on the state income level guidelines. As a result, individuals who fall under the poverty threshold and financial difficulty criteria may be exempted from paying USCIS contributions.

Individuals must use the I-912 Form to request a waiver of payment for an immigration application and application. When requesting a waiver of collection, the alien must clearly show that he or she cannot pay the fee. The Office does not accept a letter from the applicant stating that they cannot pay registration fees or fees for biometric services without completing the I-912 form and supporting documentation that includes federal tax returns or checking other documents.

Now, a foreigner may request to waive the fee if the documented annual income of the family is 150 from the poverty level established by the Federal Poverty Guidelines (you can see this link).

Fees amount to more than 95 percent of the USCIS budget as part of the work of the agency managing the country's legal immigration system. In fact, the amount of fees has increased significantly in each state over the past eight years, which in turn has increased the number of people who want to receive benefits.

The annual fee waiver provided by USCIS increased from $ 344,3 million in the fiscal year (FY) in the 2016 year to $ 367,9 million in the 2017 year.
