According to the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), the “heating season” in New York lasts from October 1 to May 31—during this period, landlords are required to provide heat in the apartments of city residents.
In particular, it is obligatory to heat residential buildings during the day, from 6: 00 to 22: 00, if the outdoor temperature drops below 12 degrees Celsius. In this case, the indoor temperature should be at least 20 degrees Celsius.
