Members of the Norwegian parliament nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize
Members of the ruling party in Norway nominated US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
The reason for this, they called his contribution to reaching an agreement on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, reports NTV.
Two members of the Norwegian Progress Party initiated Trump’s nomination.
“The events taking place now have historical significance. A process has begun that should ensure a peaceful future for our world. This is still a very fragile process, and therefore we must do everything in our power to ensure that it brings good results. I believe that we can do this by making our position clear and awarding Trump the Peace Prize,” said one of the initiators of the nomination, Per-Willi Amundsen.
However, in 2018, Trump will not be able to win the Nobel Prize. Only those candidates who were nominated not later than January participate in the struggle for the award this year. Thus, Trump can only claim the award in 2019.
Earlier, the opinion that the current US president is worthy of becoming a Nobel laureate for his contribution to peace on the Korean Peninsula was expressed by several members of the US Congress, British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson and South Korean President Moon Jae Ying.
Trump himself сказалthat for him there is something more preferable than the Nobel Peace Prize.
