A hundred years later, the ex-president of the United States found an illegitimate daughter

A DNA test showed that US President Warren Harding, who led the country from 1921 to 1923, had an illegitimate daughter, writes The New York Times.

The fact that Harding has an illegitimate daughter, in 1928, in his book "The Daughter of the President" told the mistress of the head of state Nan Britton. According to her, the relationship began a few years before Harding became president, and continued until his death in 1923.

According to Britton, the daughter was conceived in Harding's office in the US Senate in 1919, in October of the same year, Elizabeth Ann was born. The politician never met his daughter, but gave her financial support. After the publication of the book, Britton was criticized by supporters of Harding, she was accused of lying.

Remaining without official confirmation (some historians have stated directly that Britton’s story is a lie), the story of 29’s US president’s relationship with a young girl who was younger than 31 for the year remained a popular legend that was repeatedly mentioned in literature and cinema.

Professor Peter Harding, the grand-nephew of Warren Harding, decided to conduct a DNA examination. He knew about the book of Britton, but in his family they called her a lie - it was believed that Harding was fruitless because of the piggy suffered in childhood. Peter Harding, along with his cousin Abigail, was able to get in touch with James Blesing, grandson of Nan Britton.

AncestryDNA DNA test found that Blezing is Peter's second cousin and Abigail Harding, which means his mother, Elizabeth Ann, was indeed the daughter of the US President and Nan Britton. According to Blezing, his grandmother has loved Harding all her life.

He was known for his penchant for alcohol and gambling, and he was repeatedly informed about his loveless affairs. In the year 1923 after complications of pneumonia, Harding died at the age of 57 years, occupying the post of President of the United States.

Nan Britton became the first woman in US history to openly declare extramarital relations with the head of state and tell about them in detail in the book. She passed away in 1991. She had no other children besides Harding’s daughter.
