The future is here: pedal boats with fenders are sold in the USA
Walking a bicycle on the water looks like a picture from the future. But you can do it now. It all started with a dream in which the founder of the New Zealand company Manta5 was riding his bicycle through the water. More details about the unusual invention told Voice of America.
“When he woke up, he realized that in his dream he felt the same on the water as on land,” says company employee Greg Johnson. “That’s what inspired him to put his bike on the water.”
Thus was born the Manta5 bike - a waterproof electric rover that allows avid cyclists to conquer lakes and rivers.
Such a miracle of technology will cost $ 8 990, and you can order it at website with delivery.

It has everything almost like a traditional electric bike: two pedals, an electric motor, a battery that lasts for more than 3 hours, but it also has a unique feature - fenders.
They are made from carbon fiber and work like the wings of an airplane. The sensor's geolocation and accelerometer allow the cyclist to stay on the surface of the water.
“When you start pedaling, the engine gives you an extra kick and it's like you're jumping to the surface,” Johnson says. “The control system is slightly different; we use a GPS navigation system to correct the speed.”

And the feeling is somewhat different than driving a traditional road bike. The water bike can accelerate up to a speed of 20 km per hour.
The founders of the company dream that their clients will be able to discover the water space, because it was impossible before. Rumor has it that perhaps one day water cycling will become an Olympic sport. Already in the summer, the company said, there are plans to swim across the English Channel.
