Brooklyn and 1 more 836 bridges in New York need repairs

1837 bridges in New York State are “structurally imperfect” and in need of repair.

This is evidenced by a new report compiled by American Road & Transportation Builders Association, writes AMNY.

Bridges in need of repair make up about 10,7% of all bridges in the state and include the newly renovated Brooklyn Bridge.

The 9 of 10 is the busiest state bridges in need of repair, located in the city of New York. These 9 bridges serve 1,3 million vehicles daily.

Although President Trump announced an 1 infrastructure trillion dollar bill, he has not yet achieved success.

The published report underlines the need for investment in US infrastructure, as well as the importance of simplifying the permitting process so that funded projects can move forward without undue delay.

The state of New York is the tenth largest in the United States among the regions with the most structurally imperfect bridges. In total, the report has 54 259 in need of repair bridges among the total number in the United States - 612.

The federal classification of a “structurally imperfect bridge” means that inspectors gave a low grade (4 on a scale from 0 to 9) to at least one of the four sections of the bridge: its roadway or pedestrian; railing or any other superstructure; pillars connecting the bridge with the ground; or bridge culvert that is used for drainage. A bridge can also be classified as structurally imperfect if its carrying capacity is well below design standards.

The numbers of bridges in need of repair are in fact a positive trend. In the US, 2007, there were 73 817 structurally imperfect bridges, this number was reduced to 55, 710 in 2017, and now has fallen by almost one and a half thousand.
